For the inaugural book club selection I decided to go with Nam Le’s The Boat which came out this past May. The Boat, is a collection of seven short stories set in such disparate locales as Tehran and Columbia. Though this is Le’s first book, he has won the Dylan Thomas and Pushcart prize for his effort. I can’t wait to read it and see what all of the fuss is about. Besides, it can’t be all that bad, even Michiko Kakutani liked it and she hates everything.
